Certified Cat Lady confirmed

I don't recall if I mentioned that my friendly downstairs neighbor Natalie asked if I'd come in and hang out with her kitty while she is gone a few days for the Thanksgiving holiday. He has an automatic feeder and is generally fine for a day or two but she worries if she's gone longer than that. Of course I agreed. Kittyboy Miles gives me little demure meows and sniffs the screen when I go downstairs so I hold my fingers near the screen and tell him hello and that he's a good boy.

Natalie was super curious how he'd receive me fully in the flesh and we got the answer right away when I visited her for a meet and greet this evening. The minute I stepped inside, meows abound as Miles came lumbering up (he's a bit of a chunky love) quickly to greet me and demanded patpats and attention. She told me that he will get SUCH a sad look on his face if he hears me coming down the stairs and doesn't get to the window in time. Also, he even recognizes the sound of me coming down over the other upstairs neighbors.

I guess I have a kitty boyfriend? lol. Oh and I refused her offer of money for the visits. I told her next time she makes some yummy preserves to keep me in mind is all.

Or maybe the next time you have to go somewhere, she could look in on your two. This could be the start of a beautiful friendship - and I don't mean between you and Miles. :D

Cool that you have a gentleman callers, though. What did your two think upon your return?

Natalie is such a sweet girl. I'm actually looking forward to meeting her boyfriend who is going to be moving in with her soon. She's a pretty busy grad student but it is comforting to know that she may be there in a pinch. Emily's niece came over recently since I promised her a "kitty date" after she was sick on Halloween and she was actually able to pet both JonJon and Junie. They were still skittish but it was progress!

My two kiddos were fine upon return. They seem to be confident that even if Mom smells a little funny, she's not going to bring any more kitties to come stay (I've assured them of this). That and they've smelled doggy on me LOTS of times since dogs think I'm fabulous and slobber all over me.

It's always good to have a back up. I have three cat sitters, just in case.

My poor cats are so used to me smelling of other cats (and of bringing them home), nothing fazes them anymore. I'm glad you weren't given the cold shoulder when you got home.

Thanks! Animals and small children seem to have a sixth sense that I'm harmless. (Darnit! lol)

My cat sitter turned pet sitting into a second career after she decided she could no longer stand her original job. Seems like a fun job although I don't think it pays all the bills.

Maybe when I retire in 20 or so years (provided I can even get around lol)

Hopefully my kitties don't get too jealous when I spend an hour or so a day with my boyfriend
