What are you wearing on your feets?

I have a lot of shoes. Not because I'm one of those divas, but because I can't seem to throw them away and that's coming back to bite me. A couple of days ago I wore my pair of medium brown SAS shoes to work. They look practically new on top, but looks are deceiving. I thought I was tracking around mud but couldn't figure where I stepped in it. Then I realized it wasn't mud but that the soles of my shoes were actually dry rotting off. Dang! Then I figured they were probably at least 20 years old.

Then yesterday I put on my pair of khaki colored sneakers to go with my tan knit pants. But I noticed before putting them on that the inside heel is practically wearing through because I put orthotics in them. I'd like to get a new pair but they're cheap Grasshoppers brand and that brand drives me nuts. Their sizing is SO inconsistent. Last time I ordered two pairs (ironically, to replace other Grasshoppers that were falling apart), I had to send both back because neither fit. But I ordered the same style and size as the pairs I had and unlike clothing, shoes shouldn't need THAT much "breaking in."

Anyone have recommendations for some classic tie sneakers? I was thinking Keds but then when I looked it up, Grasshoppers and Keds are the same company. I did order a pair of penny loafers on sale from Lands End last night in a "dark sand" color which I hope will work with both light brown and dark brown pants.

I am having particularly delightful luck with Ryka. Sneakers made only for women by a woman-owned company.

Political correctness aside, I can go shopping all day in these and have NO sciatica and NO foot pain.

There are many different styles & without a doubt, not every style works for every women.

Vionic is also a brand I like, for the same reason as Ryka, but with them I tend to go to the leather slip on work flats.

May I recommend an excellent website shoes dot com. I’ve made 3-4 purchases from them. I particularly like their shoe reviews addressing fit. I find that information to be more complete on more shoes than on Zappos.

Oh thank you! I like the looks of these Ryka shoes! I also like the endorsement that they don't hurt your back or feet. Do they run true to size?

I do like Vionic but lately some of their styles haven't worked for me. They used to offer a pair of slippers that I wear as regular shoes and they don't offer it anymore. I bought a similar-looking slipper from them with the hopes that they would feel about the same but the size was all off.

SAS is an awesome brand if you haven't worn them, btw, but boy they're expensive. At least they now offer them for sale online and their sizes are consistent from style to style.

Ryka seems to run true to size, but do your research online before you buy.

Remember eBay for shoes that have been discontinued. I got a pair of Vionic that had been discontinued.

I’ve heard of SAS, but I’ve never owned a pair.

I do - this is the style

In this style, I'm actually a dinky little size 6.

SAS is awesome. Many of their styles look like old lady styles but I am all into comfy feet and back.

20 years old!! I admire your commitment lol!

For classic tie sneaks I HIGHLY recommend ASICS. So flipping comfortable!

I like comfort, but I need something that looks like this. Something slightly less noticeable as an "athletic" shoe

Ah yes, a little less conspicuous ;) I like my sneakers all black or NEON rainbow colours. There is no in-between!

I loooove multicolored shoes. I have these which fits the bill for looking "professional" but also fit my bill of being quirky.

I have a pair of New Balance 608's. They are pretty much the only shoes I wear unless I am getting dressed up and sometimes even then.

I used to do regular tennis shoes very often. Now I have to go to fancy pants conferences and meet with muckity mucks so I have to have a few colors of shoes acceptable for those. Ugh.

When I have to do a fancypants conference with our guys, I'm lucky if they wear pants... or clothes at all...

ROFL! Thank GOODNESS I don't have that problem. With some of my coworkers, my eyes would burst into flame.

Yeah, why do you think I left before the big nude scene in "Hair?" :P

I tend to do the same with shoes. I wore a pair of navy flats that I must have had since the 90s and all of a sudden I noticed the sole was really flopping as I walked. Half of it had come disconnected. I’ve also worn away the insides down to the where you can almost see through them. Then I can never find a new pair I like to replace them. Good luck with your new shoes.

*HUGS*

I'm horrid about shoes. I have one pair at a time and wear them to death. I've had one pair of Pumas for the last two years. They last a long time and may be expensive, but they are comfy and SO worth it!
