What are you wearing on your feets?

I have a lot of shoes. Not because I'm one of those divas, but because I can't seem to throw them away and that's coming back to bite me. A couple of days ago I wore my pair of medium brown SAS shoes to work. They look practically new on top, but looks are deceiving. I thought I was tracking around mud but couldn't figure where I stepped in it. Then I realized it wasn't mud but that the soles of my shoes were actually dry rotting off. Dang! Then I figured they were probably at least 20 years old.

Then yesterday I put on my pair of khaki colored sneakers to go with my tan knit pants. But I noticed before putting them on that the inside heel is practically wearing through because I put orthotics in them. I'd like to get a new pair but they're cheap Grasshoppers brand and that brand drives me nuts. Their sizing is SO inconsistent. Last time I ordered two pairs (ironically, to replace other Grasshoppers that were falling apart), I had to send both back because neither fit. But I ordered the same style and size as the pairs I had and unlike clothing, shoes shouldn't need THAT much "breaking in."

Anyone have recommendations for some classic tie sneakers? I was thinking Keds but then when I looked it up, Grasshoppers and Keds are the same company. I did order a pair of penny loafers on sale from Lands End last night in a "dark sand" color which I hope will work with both light brown and dark brown pants.

I am having particularly delightful luck with Ryka. Sneakers made only for women by a woman-owned company.

Political correctness aside, I can go shopping all day in these and have NO sciatica and NO foot pain.

There are many different styles & without a doubt, not every style works for every women.

Vionic is also a brand I like, for the same reason as Ryka, but with them I tend to go to the leather slip on work flats.

May I recommend an excellent website shoes dot com. I’ve made 3-4 purchases from them. I particularly like their shoe reviews addressing fit. I find that information to be more complete on more shoes than on Zappos.

Oh thank you! I like the looks of these Ryka shoes! I also like the endorsement that they don't hurt your back or feet. Do they run true to size?

I do like Vionic but lately some of their styles haven't worked for me. They used to offer a pair of slippers that I wear as regular shoes and they don't offer it anymore. I bought a similar-looking slipper from them with the hopes that they would feel about the same but the size was all off.

SAS is an awesome brand if you haven't worn them, btw, but boy they're expensive. At least they now offer them for sale online and their sizes are consistent from style to style.

Ryka seems to run true to size, but do your research online before you buy.

Remember eBay for shoes that have been discontinued. I got a pair of Vionic that had been discontinued.

I’ve heard of SAS, but I’ve never owned a pair.

I do - this is the style

In this style, I'm actually a dinky little size 6.

SAS is awesome. Many of their styles look like old lady styles but I am all into comfy feet and back.
