Planning your Halloween costume yet?

Since Halloween is a weekday, it's likely I'll dress up for work. This year I might dig through the closet and under the bed and see if I can find some stuff that fits rather than buying anything new. If my corset still fits, I might go for the ol' "Tavern Wench" look.

That said, here's the deal. I have my pixie cut and I'm wondering - get a hat? A wig? Something else? What do you think?

TBG has planned his costume down to the nth degree. In fact, he's making me a little crazy with it... Sigh...

Wigs are always fun and you can get some pretty cheap ones at Spirit stores.

LOL Awww, go TBG.

I haven't worn a wig in ages. I'm wondering whether I'd be able to go the whole day though it really would give the most bang for the costume

I don't do a lot of dressing up and neither does he, but he's very excited about being dressed up on the ship.

Wigs are fun and cheap ones can be found in the Halloween aisle of your local dollar store.

Before the anti-Halloween folks ruined the holiday, the staff at my library used to dress up for the day as characters from literature.

Ooooh TAVERN WENCH! I love it.

And since you already have such short hair I would probably go for a wig, just for something different for a day? AND a hat! Woo!

We are undecided because all our spooky stuff is packed grr...

I've never managed to wear a wig for longer than 10 minutes - I find them super hot and uncomfortable. If a wig doesn't suit, what about a headscarf to camouflage your short hair?

I generally don't go all out - I will try to remember to wear my hallowe'en earrings that week - and on the day of, I will likely dust off my red glitter devil horns and wear those :D

I was wondering whether a cap might be more comfortable. Wigs can get itchy

I just want pictures! :D I'm horrible about getting costumes, lol!

Anymore I just try to go the cheaper way of recycling stuff I have. I used to be into going to ren faires more so I have a corset. Whether it still fits is another thing lol. I also have some of my bellydance wear tucked away

I'm going as either a flamenco dancer or a "Roma", using the "spinning skirt" that I own and an inexpensive "peasant" blouse or my swimsuit. The only problem that I have is dealing with the "beard" that I cannot get rid of hirsutism bites and sucks at the same time. What's more is that, since I have to take public transportation to the Samhain "celebration" hosted by the Celtic Studies department at school, I won't have to worry about being inappropriate/getting thrown off the bus!

If you can find an inexpensive cap, I seem to remember a character from an anime that always wore a cap to hide her horns. You can find information about the anime if you look up Restaurant to Another World. It also shows the cap that I'm trying to describe (and failing miserably.)

Sounds like a fabulous costume - rock it! Well, the beard would be authentic since it's a genetic thing for Eastern European women (gee, THANKS great grandma). I've spent hundreds of dollars on laser hair removal which does reduce it but it comes back. So now I just shave the annoyance under the chin and wax the upper lip (or get it threaded)

I see the cap you're talking about. Something like that might be more doable than a wig. Ah, a muffin cap - that's the thing!

I get the hirsutism from both sides of the family! What makes it worse is that I'm "IS". *sigh*

My flatmates are going to be in their favourite "costumes": they "dress" as Freya's cats (my flatmates are cats!) They pretty much stay in the apartment too many dogs and kids running around due to neighbors, lazing on their cat condos facing the windows... This reminds me that I need to get their Samhain treats/toys.

I get being chunky from both sides. Ah well!

What is "IS"?

I should get my two some special treats. Last year I found a haunted house/scratching pad at Target that was met with mild kitty approval (as enthusiastic as they get)

Me, too, as well as diabetes and cancer.

IS stands for intersexual (there are many subgroups of intersexuality from what I understand.) Unfortunately for me, my health insurance won't pay for genetic testing unless the patient is in a group that's considered a "high-risk" pregnancy I've already undergone menopause, so that's out of the question...

I'm going to pick up catnip and catnip-infused items, maybe a couple of sets of polyhedral dice for my furred purrson plural (they're also role-players they "play" the different nonhuman characters in the weekly games that I'm involved in.) My gamemasters came up with the idea after Tovarish (the eldest) kept interrupting our tabletop games to roll the dice herself, and she now has her own binder full of character sheets as do Tomodachi and Maneki. They're even luckier than I am with their rolls, earning comical disdain from the only guy in the group.

Ok - was wondering! Thanks for letting me know. Don't you love insurance? UGH. Have you ever taken a 23andMe test? I've exported data from there into promethease.com to check things I was curious about.

My kitties have been disinterested in catnip lately which is interesting. I have ordered honeysuckle cat toys before which they like a good deal.

I love "furred purrson plural"!
