Dine's Food Diary - Day 7

Let's wrap this up, shall we? I did ok this week. Could I have done even better? Sure, but it's about those baby steps, not ridiculous leaps. Now it's time to make it stick.

This morning's final weight: 196.5.
Breakfast - 3 bagel bites (filled with egg and cheese), one mini biscotti, coffee with half and half and splenda (yep, only finished half)

Not shown: Snack - Trader Joe's had samples of about 1/4 of their apple cider donuts and I had one sample and one of those sample size coffees with sugar and half and half. I also bought a container of French roast low acid coffee which may be more appetizing in the morning

Sorry for the blurry pic. Lunch - stopped at Panda Express when out running errands. Had a bowl with steamed veggies on the bottom instead of rice or noodles and got the black pepper chicken. It was ridiculously peppery. Iced tea with about 1/4 being the sweetened and the rest unsweetened. I don't like iced tea very sweet at all. Oh and of course I ate the fortune cookie. The fortune was insipid and forgettable.

Afternoon snack - matcha with 1% milk, piece of Irene's biscotti (good for when you want something sweet but don't want to break the bank. They are only 25 calories a piece)

Dinner - seafood salad (shrimp, calamari, red peppers, celery, Italian dressing), marinated mushrooms, roasted red peppers, on top of mixed lettuce. No extra dressing added as there was enough in the seafood salad. Mini can of ginger ale

Dessert, not shown. Sugar free jello with whipped cream and I may get a small piece of chocolate.

Tomorrow I'll have another salad like this and I also have a container of red pepper corn chowder made by a vendor from a local Farmer's Market. Lookfing forward to those. I'll also make sure to make healthy choices at the grocery this week. I did pretty good at TJs today. Oh and amusingly, now their credit card chip reader GOBBLES at you to take your card out. Too funny!

Ooh - I never thought of doing Panda Express with veggies instead of rice/noodles. I *do* like their chow mein though :)

And yes, I did my yearly trip to TJ's - had to get my Orange/Cranberry relish - and noticed the 'gobble gobble' too!

Sometimes I do half veggies, half noodles or white rice but I was feeling like I should behave. That and the mix yesterday had a lot of broccoli and dark greens so I was allll about that.

I made orange cranberry sauce but I wasn’t fond of the quality of the cranberries I got. If I find some better looking ones today, I may make a new batch. That stuff is so good on sandwiches. That and I always feel compelled to support the cranberry industry since my office gives the Rutgers blueberry/cranberry research center funding. Most cranberry things people buy in the US has a good chance of being a variety created here in New Jersey 😉

It all looks so delicious. I am currently on a weight loss journey myself. Maybe this is what I need to do -- a food log! Thank you!

The photo documenting did keep me honest this week and it helped show me my habits. I’m Not continuing with the photos since it’s a lot of trouble to compile them but if I start to feel myself slipping, I may at least document in text what I’m eating.

By the way, your icon is SO adorable!

I currently document in text but it doesn't help me much because even on paper it doesn't look like a lot :/ But you're right. Photo documenting could get troubling!

Also, it is tempting to do a video post like this sometime

I adore that channel. It’s so pretty

Were you at Trader Joe’s or someplace else? I’m hoping they do holiday jingles after this. Anything is better than that harsh siren sound
