She went out with a passive aggressive whimper. For those playing the home game, I didn't hear jack squat yesterday from Sis or BIL but she did post attention-whoring pictures and stuff for her followers on FB. Trying to act as if she got emotional at the 9-11 memorial and shit. Right. This morning she decided to cap off her ridiculous ass-covering with this text at 9am
"Hey! We are getting ready to drop the car off and head to the airport. Sorry we didn't get to spend more time together."

I have no intention of answering that text or likely any other. Because all I'd want to answer with is something like "Go fuck yourself" which would give her a superior boost and allow her to act wounded. She ghosted me nearly her entire trip, I'll ghost her indefnitely.

But anyway, they're gone (or at least at the airport) so GOOD. On with life.

I have so so so much work to do and it's hard to get back into focusing. I'll have to crack the whip on my brain so I don't get even further behind. I'm not currently directly affected by the Federal partial shutdown but if it goes on much longer, I wonder whether they'll shut down the site where I submit the research progress reports?

As far as vegan goings-on, I've been 100% vegan for a week now and it's been perfectly fine. I've had some stomach upset from NYE to yesterday but since it's magically gone now, I can pretty firmly say that it was hormone-inspired. Yikes. Another thing to add to the list and to cross the fingers that maybe 2019 can bring menopause? lol

I've gotten used to soy creamer which seems to be the best replacement in coffee. I do mildly miss egg white sandwiches at breakfast but I'm doing well substituting it with avocado/hummus/tomato/sprout/olive/otherveggiefun toast. I had oatmeal with bananas and strawberries (a bit underripe) the other day and while it was ok, I feel I need to up my game there. I am going to try to make some berry compote with frozen blueberries and strawberries to top the oatmeal with. I may find and add some seedless raspberry or blackberry jam because I love the flavor but I hate the seeds there since they always get stuck in my teeth and hurt. I also may try to make some congee to have in the mornings.

I have a lot in the fridge right now but I still need to be planful and food prep lunches next week. Ordering in or going out is annoying a lot of the time. I also have a nuts.com order arriving today with some more vegan staples like nutritional yeast (they get excellent reviews for their brand), ground flax for baking and adding bulk to dishes, chickpea flour for the same as flax, red lentils (never cooked them before), sprouted brown rice, and other bits and bobs like tiny bits of crystallized ginger, matcha powder, dark chocolate peanuts, pitted dates (have plans to make this date bread this weekend and may make it with GF flour), some gluten free pasta and some hoisin sauce.

That's going well in 2019 so far at least! Looking sooooo forward to the NYC visit to the History of Magic exhibit and lunch with veganhothead this month! Emily and her niece and niece's friend will also be coming along because her niece is also an HP fan and it's her birthday (psst, Emily's niece has been eating vegetarian for a while so I'm betting she's going to enjoy lunch!). Oooo...maybe I SHOULD try to bring a little cake or pastry or something or we should find one....

Ok, enough rambling! I need to get to WORK!

Omggg that woman knows no bounds o_O (The 9/11 thing...ugh.) her 9AM text was the icing on the crap cake o_O Good riddance!!! Fly away, now... Shoo...

CONGRATS ON ONE WEEK VEGAN! WOO!! That's amazing :D And I know from experience that eating vegan is a lot tougher than it sounds! (The research!!) You rock.

Ooh YAY for the NYC trip with your friend ^_^ Have fun!! I look forward to pics :D

Eating vegan at home has been shockingly easy. However going out is another matter - especially breakfast.

I've had good intentions but am just groggy and lacking in motivation. NEED TO GET GOING.

*nods* Yup I could see that! Home is one thing but when I ran a restaurant I got so many allergy/dietary restrictions questions that I eventually just wrote up a little FAQ for all the servers *lol* Like one "vegan" lady had been eating our rice "for years"...it's bright yellow, lady, it is quite obviously cooked in chicken broth o_O (And as if she never thought to ask?? In my experience vegan people try to, you know, stay vegan -_- That means asking about your food... She was just a real snot. *lol*)

What a dope! If the rice is yellow, ASK for goodness sake! Don't assume it's saffron or turmeric.

Well that's exactly it!! If you are doing a specific diet/lifestyle, then why wouldn't you ask as many questions as possible? And not just yellow...but also TASTES LIKE CHICKEN. Like wtf was wrong with that woman o_O

I'm turning 49 this year. I hope that's old enough. Been having hot flashes and other fun for a few years but the ol' cycle is pretty steady still - but the side effects keep getting worse.

I shall have to make sure my phone is good and charged for pictures!

The vegan journey has been pretty smooth so far. I am feeling tired as hell today, though, which might be a dip in iron levels due to female issues so I'll have to make sure to have some spinach tonight.

Have you tried making baked oatmeal? I like it so much more than regular oatmeal, plus to me it is easier because I have multiple servings on hand then I can just reheat.

Every month I wish for menopause but my body hasn’t complied yet. Ugh!

I haven't made baked oatmeal in a while but that's an excellent idea - thanks! To be honest, I'd be more likely to pack that for lunch than eat it for breakfast because for some reason I REALLY favor a savory breakfast. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. Then at least I'd have a prepped lunch.

It's too bad we don't have a switch to flip to go "yep, done with this useless organ"
