Should I go for a new look for 2019?

I haven't had my hair cut since a little before Halloween. It's also currently sometimes trying to be curly, though today I combed it out some. Anyhoo, here's me right now and yeah, I know I look tired AF. Because I kind of am.

My hair is in that definite "meh" stage and this is when I usually go get it lobbed off - sometimes to the point of a pixie like this one (this is several years old but probably the shortest I've gotten it)

Here's the thing...I'm wondering whether it's worth the trouble and stress to try to grow my hair out. The problem is that if I try to do this, I'll have to be prepared for the really shaggy annoying stage and also, when my hair grows, it starts to fall out like WHOA and get thin. I could try taking biotin supplements to combat this. Here's a pic over 15 years old when my hair was long and yeah, curly
Yeah, I'm a dork

So, for shits and giggles, a poll!
Poll #2088503 Hair, hair everywhere

What should Diane do with her hair in 2019?

Cut it back the super short pixie!
5(55.6%)
Try to grow it long
2(22.2%)
Something else - I'll specify in the comments
2(22.2%)

Not even going to address the color issue this round but hey, if you want to weigh on on that too - feel free.

You look great in all the photo's, but I do like the easiness of a short cut so I picked pixie. =)

If I could master an Inverted Bob on my own (short at the back and tapering longer at the front) I'd just have that forever, myself.
But... since I can't DIY that, with out it looking horrid, I have to go in and get it done professionally when I want it. Sooooo, I just fiddle with cutting my own hair right up until I am ready to go in to the hair salon for that cut. *lol*

Thank you!

I've never tried the inverted bob since when I have bangs, it's a battle and I'd be fighting with them constantly lol

I usually have the urge in my head of CHOP IT ALL OFF and oddly, I'm toggling between that and LONGER THE BETTER.

Eees so confusing

❤️❤️

That's my problem right now too. I usually don't have a fringe, but right now I do. And of course it annoys me, and I am forever trying to pin it back or brushit to the side.
I need to let it grow out so it's as long as the rest of my hair again.

I'm with you on the urges. I still have moments where I go 'I should let it get longer'. My hair is not built for length though. I have fine and thin hair. Short is better for me because it gives the illusion of fuller hair 😂. By the time it reaches shoulder length it's just sad, and I end up pony tailing it all the time until I finally cut it.

Good luck!! Share peectures if you do get it cut.

When mine starts to get below the nape of my neck, it gets thinner and thinner that even a ponytail is sad. The first time I got a pixie, it was pretty long and very thin. I went back about 6 weeks later to get it trimmed by the same person who was SO confused. She ran her fingers through my hair and was all "What happened to my haircut? And where did all this NEW HAIR come from??" because it gets measurably thicker when it's very short.

Oh and as far as color, yeah, the highlights were fun but eh, if I'm going to pixie it, they'll be cut out and I don't think I'll bother messing with it.

We have similar hair. XD

It's weird, depending on the hairdresser I go to I either can get a pixie cut, or I get told a pixie cut wouldn't work for me. XD
I am thinking that the hairdresser that says no just doesn't want to do the cut at all. As I was in specifically to refresh a four month regrowth of a pixie cut when she told me that.. . so umm, yeah. Another reason I prefer to just trim myself. XD

I do envy people with long thick hair. A pony tail for me is a sad thing. A Barbie doll generally has more hair in her pony tail than I do. *lol*

It's sad, at one point I thought 'hey, clip in hair extensions might be a fun thing to try".. ummm, nope. My hair is far too fine and so I found out the clips don't stay in place, and the clips instead just cut/break bits of my poor hair. XD Just destined for short hair 'til I die I guess. Unless I decide to go full Cher and have wigs one day *lol*

I think the pixie will be super lovely and freeing for you! Wooohoo!

I dumped a hairdresser before because while I liked her, she would refuse to cut my hair into a pixie. Woman, I'm paying you and if I want you to shave me bald, FREAKING DO IT.

I've even been trying to work up the nerve to ask someone to clipper a design. Something like this on the side I think would be so fun

I may want to wait until I get back from my trip to DC to meet with the feds to get that done but a pixie in the meantime would be fine.

Personally I think you would look SUPER DUPER ADORABLE with this haircut and color

Thank you, sweets!

Heh, my hag of a sister always whines when I cut it short. Then again for a hairdresser, she can't do jack shit to her own hair.

I actually like the present cut the best. It's got a bit of body to it. Short-short is easy, but I like the lift you have in the current length. Of course I could be biased. That's my cut!

Actually you're right - the pixie is sweet, but what you have going on at the moment, is very flattering!

What about leaving some length/height on top/front and doing the sides and back short - with a cute design in the back?

I think you look amazing in the pixie cut! Of course, I am team short hair, so I obviously have a preference :)

The last time I grew my hair out it was SOOOO frustrating - I ended up with all the weird in between hairstyles with LOADS and LOADS of clips and so many weird tiny ponytails - and eventually, got it to an inch below my ears before giving in and CHOPPING IT ALL OFF AGAIN.

Prior to that, I had gotten it to shoulder length and realized that all I do with it at that length, is pull it back and tie it in a pony tail - so there's no point for me to do it :)

The inbetween stage is the absolute worst.

I did like it when it was long and thick enough to twist and pull up to put in a pretty clip but I don’t know if my hair could even do that anymore

I think the shortest cut looks the MOST fabulous on you ^_^ The longer is cute, too, but I just find the pixie so flattering on ya <333

I think you'd rock a platinum bob.

The only person I’d trust to do that and not fry my hair is my sis and that ain’t going to happen. Years ago it took forever and nearly burned my scalp to get my hair to turn a brassy yellow but products have vastly improved.

I could try to at least toss in some dark red for a spin...I could ponder a platinum pixie after I get back from DC in March. I also want to try shaved in designs

From what I've gathered lightening has come a long way as far as how it effects your hair. What's your teture like?

I would be hesitant to bleach my baby fine hair too. But you could always get a lacefront wig.

I think you will look good either way, but I do offer this warning from my favorite news service:

I now understand why I have no balance and keep bumping into door frames.

My feline stylist has been slacking lately.

Actually, if I get my hair cut, she’s more likely to be inclined to make modifications lol

So I picked grow it long, but I don’t really mean long. I like the way it looks now but I do think you’d good with it even longer too. I have an idea of a style but I don’t know if it has a name. If I find a photo I’ll post it for you.

Heh, my hair is rather messy today since I couldn't be bothered to fuss with it too much and I'm trying to put a day in between hairwashings (because I get SO dry in winter)

It's at that UGH stage and I have little patience for it.
