Lunchtime check in

So far quiet today and I hope it stays this way. I need to buckle down better and get these reports edited and submitted. Since I'm now doing them in numerical order by the project code, I'm to the big stretch of reports submitted by Plant Biology faculty and they are SOOO ungodly boring and halfassed. The sad thing is that they could make them more interesting - they're supposed to be saying why their research is important and such. But this department - unfortunately for me the largest department - seems to be full of faculty that stop giving a shit years ago about their research and just phone it in. Bossman included since his report sucks too. Way to inspire your colleagues, bud. But c'est la vie.

The lovely veganhothead gave me a fabulous cookbook from the gluten free/vegan bakery Bunner's Bakeshop in Toronto. I'm looking especially forward to making their version of coconut cream pie. I will have to poll the work folks to see if they're up for trying it too since I wouldn't want to try to eat an entire pie myself. Oh and amethyst_witch there's a recipe for a vegan version of those Nanaimo bars that I never heard of until you posted about them! Yay!

Topic change - music. As I think I mentioned before, veritasema has sucked me into her Kpop web finally. She's very pleased that now she'll have someone to go to K-Con with this summer (and I won't let her get sunstroke like she got last year when she went with her niece). I was talking about it on Saturday tp my aforementioned Canadian vegan buddy and said I'd try to suck her into the web. Several songs to try out for fun:

Blooming Day by EXO-CBX. Cute and light pop and the song sticks in your head after a couple of plays

Truth by TVXQ! One of my favorites - a duo where the guys are actually in their 30s but still as pretty as Kpop artists are supposed to be. Pop-jazz song

Last Dance by BigBang. Emily's favorite band that's currently on hiatus. She likes the guy that goes by T.O.P. since he has a lovely deep voice (he shows up about 2 minutes in)

Is Who by MINSEO. Quirky and fun and the styling in the song and video are awesome

XI by CODE KUNST featuring LeeHi. LeeHi is fabulous and her voice is so soulful. Almost Adele-like

Jenga - Heize. Yeah, Kpop is a lot of pretty boys that can dance but lately the womenfolk are winning me over. Another jazzy-type sound

I'm glad you like the book. I'm tempted to try that coconut cream pie and maybe use a pre-made chocolate cookie shell.

I'll give your K-Pop a shot, if just to get Baby Shark out of my head.

Yes, Nanaimo bars are our national treat.

I keep singing along to the chorus on the last one which makes JonJon look at me funny

A premade chocolate cookie crust would be awesome with the pie
