Shooting for another half day

I'm already tired going into it, but I'm going to do my best to get through another half day at work. Our big annual report is due this week and I need to spend this morning doing copyreading. When I got home yesterday, it was about all I could do to drag my laundry in off the porch, give the treats kitties, use the restroom and then carefully lay down to rest. I ate some lunch after a while and then kept resting. I have a feeling it'll be at least a couple more days of that before I can get back to something resembling normal.

I tried making an appointment with the rheumatologist but had a terrible connection and so far they're telling me her first appointment is AUGUST? Are you kidding me? Since I'm an established patient, they'll try to get me in sooner but come the eff on. I couldn't confirm any appointment at all since the connection was so bad so I sent a request through their electronic portal. If I don't hear back in a day or two, I'll call again. Not like a couple of days is going to make a difference.

I also looked up the form for getting a handicapped placard and ID card and it doesn't seem too difficult since I fall squarely in the category of "5.Is severely and permanently limited in the ability to walk because of an arthritic, neurological, or orthopedic condition; or cannot walk two hundred feet without stopping to rest."

Ok, back to work. In the meantime, this song has been in my head for days so I'm gonna share

Good luck with the placard. It will have to go through your doctor, but I don't think you'll have any problems with it. I have one and it does help

I think I may message my GP and see if he could possibly fill out the rest of the form so I don’t have to wait for months. The identification card would actually get me less than half price fare on New Jersey transit trains. That would be great.

Most times I wouldn’t even likely use the pass, but if I’m not feeling well, I want to be able to get in and out quickly. Also, I hope that by making this official, I can start to get some accommodations to work from home sometimes.

Believe me, it's very handy on those days when I'm not batting 1000. Good luck!

August? That's insane! If you're a regular they'd better be able to get you in early.

Shitty phone connections are the worst.

Damn, now that song is stuck in my head. I like it though.

I got a 3 month temp placard last year when I hurt my knee and all I had to do was have a form from the doctor. He/She should have it in the office. I took it to the county clerk and got it, no problem. Good luck. It does help a lot when mobility is a challenge.

I almost think you should book multiple appointments once you get in touch with your rheum, like have a standing monthly appt which you can cancel if you are feeling ok that month. That way if you need one you already have the appt in place.
